Policy impact
We conducted extensive legal and operational assessments of the civil society environment across the regions where we work. More than 60 recommendations were incorporated into policy frameworks at national and regional level, including strategies on human rights, gender equality and the prevention of domestic violence.
Judicial education
COS has trained members of the judiciary, including judges and members of judicial governance bodies. Training modules developed by COS were incorporated into the curriculum of institutions responsible for the initial and continuing training of judges.
Partnerships & coalitions
COS works with a broad circle of partners: civil society organizations, academic institutions, donors, media and public bodies. We take part in advisory boards, election observation efforts, media-integrity initiatives and gender platforms that bring together hundreds of organizations, and we build new coalitions wherever a shared agenda calls for it.
Regional programmes
Capacity building for civil society organizations across our regions of work, study visit and exchange programmes for journalists and practitioners, and cross-regional advocacy campaigns supporting civil society against restrictive legislation.
